For the bizarre and artistic types, this week’s “Door of the Week” will definitely be inspiring. I have dubbed this one, the “peek-a-boo” door.
Perhaps not the most interesting upon first glance, but look a little bit closer and this door will surprise you. By chance, I happen to catch it just walking down the street – and how lucky I was to see it! Unfortunately, as there was no one home at the time, I can’t tell you much more about the door, or it’s artist, but what I can say is that it is a lovely juxtaposition of a traditional brick townhouse, and modern artistic door feature. It bridges the gap between art, architecture and design.
I imagine that this door is quite useful for people of different heights, since there seems to be a peep-hole every millimetre or so starting at about 3 feet high. It’s also a little bit reminiscent of a multi-eyed monster with such a sporadic pattern – the peep-holes are even different sizes. In any case, this door is a great showpiece and how wonderful it is on the front of this home so that it can be shared. Thank-you mysterious home owner for the passer-by experience.
